Let’s face it girls – society isn’t easy on the whole process of aging, and the worse place to be when you are aging is in Hollywood. It’s interesting that men are considered to become more dapper and dignified as they age, yet women are considered to become something unworthy as they age.
Weird.
This is why, quite unfortunately, the buzz around Julia Roberts’ upcoming movie seems to be more about her ability to stage a come back at her age rather than the plot of the movie itself. Because apparently, at the ripe old age of 41 (totally being sarcastic here by the way), Julia Roberts is past her prime.
Curiously enough, all the women around me who are turning or who just turned 40, 50 or 60 tell me that up to then, it has only become better. While being a teenager was fun in its own way, they tell me that being in your twenties was an amazing learning process about how to feel good in your own skin, the benefits of which you reap in your thirties. At that point, you discover a deeper, better side of yourself, which you can start developing throughout your thirties and forties, which apparently helps make your fifties a wonderful time of real fulfillment.
Past her prime? According to these women, Julia Roberts is only going to be getting better. And I’m looking forward to it.
